What’s in a name?
Our name was inspired by the Duck Curve,
which represents the energy transition.
The daily grid electricity consumption chart of solar homes in California resembles the shape of a duck.
Demand for electricity from the grid starts high in the morning, but drops towards lunchtime, as solar generation covers the need fully. But as the sun goes down, electricity drawn from the grid rises very rapidly. This means conventional power plants are needed daily, but only during evenings and nights.
