Refrigerator Manufacturer Saves 58% on Energy Using Automation

Client

Foster Coldstores are a British manufacturer of specialist refrigerators for a range of business sectors, from

hospitality to healthcare and government facilities. The company operates a 33,000 ft factory in King’s Lynn, Norfolk and delivers their products nationwide using a transportation partner.

Background

The business has significant energy needs due to the size and specialist nature of its equipment.

Devices on the site include: industrial punching machine; Manni Presse heating system; OMS expanding foam injection machine; a

compressor; factory lighting; various large air con units and the hot glue guns.

Need

Lee Farnsworth, Maintenance Engineer at Foster Coldstores, states the business’s motivation for installing GridDuck was to “understand what areas were using the most energy and at what times of day.”

By doing this, the business could then find opportunities to improve their energy efficiency through operational changes.

Result

In the first 4 months of GridDuck being installed, Foster Coldstores has benefited from an overall energy saving of 22 MWh and a 58% usage reduction.
